  8. │ This record is a means of conveying information about a software   │

  85. Alexoft.  This document contains only a brief description of the package
  86. and its features, along with instructions for its installation.  Quite
  87. detailed documentation is included in the package, but it is in archived
  88. form, and is more easily read after installation.

  91. within your Windows applications, find files, perform file functions,
  92. and maintain lists of commonly access files all from within your Windows
  93. applications, then Instant File Access is the program for you...

  95. Instant File Access is a shareware program.  This evaluation version
  96. includes all features of the program, and is not crippled in any way.
  97. You may use it for up to 30 days, without charge.  If you like the
  98. program, and wish to continue its use after this evaluation period, you
  99. are required to pay for the program (see ORDER.WRI for more details).

  141. The installation procedure for Instant File Access is quite simple.  The
  142. package includes a program, "SETUP.EXE", which automates the entire
  143. process.  You will need about 300 kilo bytes of available disk space on
  144. the hard drive on which you plan to install Instant File Access.
  145.  
  146. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received Instant
  147. File Access.
  148.  
  149.  
  150. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  151.  
  152. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  153.  
  154.    o  Place Instant File Access distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the
  155.       appropriate diskette drive.
  156.  
  157.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program on the distribution diskette.
  158.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  159.       the MS-DOS command, "WIN A:SETUP".
  160.  
  161.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  162.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  163.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The
  164.       program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy
  165.       the Instant File Access files to that directory. If you so direct
  166.       it, the installation program will install executable programs and
  167.       documentation in other directories of your choice.  It will make
  168.       no other changes; specifically, it will not modify your
  169.       autoexec.bat or config.sys files.  It can modify your Startup
  170.       program manager group to automatically start Instant File Access
  171.       when you start Windows.

  174. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  175.  
  176. If you downloaded Instant File Access from a BBS (or received it in the
  177. form of archive files from some other source), you will need to perform
  178. the following steps.
  179.  
  180.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  181.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  182.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  183.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  184.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  185.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  186.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  187.       the package.
  188.  
  189.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  190.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  191.       the Instant File Access package is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute
  192.       the MS-DOS command, "WIN c:\tempdir\setup".

  194.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  195.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  196.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The
